• Retired Ball State prof reaches plea in molestation case

    MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) — A retired Ball State University professor accused of molesting a boy has agreed to plead guilty to a lesser charge in the case.
    Eighty-one-year-old Melvin Lee Sharpe agreed last week to plead guilty to a felony count of battery resulting in bodily injury.
    A Delaware County judge set an April 5 hearing to decide whether she’ll accept the plea. If she does, Sharpe will be sentenced at that time.

    INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Frank Reich has been introduced as the Indianapolis Colts new head coach.
    The former Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator accepted the job two days earlier then signed his contract at the home of team owner Jim Irsay later that night.

    INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana Supreme Court has ruled prison officials can change execution drugs without going through a public review.

  • Man convicted in killings could be released from prison

    TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio inmate who admitted taking part in three slayings with his brother in a killing spree that left nine dead during the 1970s and ’80s could soon be released.
    The Blade of Toledo reports attorneys for 59-year-old Nathaniel Cook are expected to file for his judicial release as early as this week under terms of his plea agreement.
    Cook pleaded guilty to attempted murder and two counts of kidnapping, for a 20-year sentence that ends Tuesday.

    FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Two people are facing drug charges after police found marijuana and edible drugs inside a home. After an investigation, the Gang Unit and SWAT team searched a home in the 2100 block of Crescent Avenue near Forest Park Elementary around 3:45 p.m. Monday, February 12.

    SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — A former University of Notre Dame employee accused of taking about $200,000 from the law school’s Clinical Law Center has pleaded guilty in the case.
    Jennifer Ihns is awaiting sentencing April 13 after entering a plea last week to charges including forgery and theft. The 44-year-old will be required to pay $199,000 in restitution to Notre Dame.
