    FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A 13-year-old Maple Creek Middle School student has been named a 2018 Riley Champion.
    Josh Clark was diagnosed with Shone’s Complex shortly after birth, which is a series of heart defects. Over the years, he has received care at Riley Children’s Hospital.
    Clark’s mother credits a clinical research trial for saving his live. Now, he lives a normal life playing basketball, running cross-country and participating in show choir.

  • 2 teens plead guilty in death of passenger hit by sandbag

    TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Two of four teenage boys arrested after a sandbag tossed from an Ohio interstate overpass killed a Michigan man have pleaded guilty to charges including involuntary manslaughter.
    A prosecutor in Toledo said Friday the 14- and 15-year-old boys didn’t toss the sandbag that killed 22-year-old Marquise Byrd, of Warren, Michigan. She says one of the boys threw another sandbag from the overpass the night of Dec. 19.

    WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) A crash involving multiple vehicles near the intersection of U.S. 30 and the road that divides Whitley and Allen counties disrupted traffic for a while Friday afternoon.

    WHITLEY CO., Ind. (WANE) The Sheriff’s Department is asking travelers to avoid 800 East just south of U.S. 30 due to a crash. It is at the Whitley/Allen County border.
    Whitley County Sheriff’s deputies at the scene told NewsChannel 15 a pick-up truck, a dump truck and semi with a trailer of cattle were involved in the crash. No one was hurt.

    FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A vacant house caught fire Friday afternoon just east of downtown. Firefighters were called to the home at 1124 Grant Avenue just before 1 p.m.

    LAPEL, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a snowmobiler in central Indiana has found the bodies of a young Indianapolis couple reported missing in December.
