• House OKs GOP bill expanding gun owners’ rights

    WASHINGTON (AP) — Republicans rammed a bill through the House on Wednesday that would make it easier for gun owners to legally carry concealed weapons across state lines, the first significant action on guns in Congress since mass shootings in Nevada and Texas killed more than 80 people.
    The House approved the bill, 231-198, largely along party lines. The measure would allow gun owners with a state-issued concealed-carry permit to carry a handgun in any state that allows concealed weapons.

    WASHINGTON (AP) — About 51 million Americans are expected to fly on U.S. airlines in the three weeks around Christmas and New Year’s Day, a 3.5 percent increase over last year.

    SWAYZEE, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a 1-year-old central Indiana girl has died after her parents were unaware the rear seat of an SUV had collapsed on top of her.

    FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The Boys and Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne will build a new facility, the organization announced Tuesday.
    The Boys and Girls Club of Fort Wayne said on its website that it will erect a 42,000 square foot facility at Fairfield Avenue and Pontiac Street, in place of its current building at 2609 Fairfield Ave. Construction on the $7.7 million facility is expected to begin after the current building is demolished in January and be completed within 2018.

    The sentencing Tuesday for 38-year-old Raenell Allen, of Youngstown, on a child endangering charge comes days after her boyfriend, 38-year-old Kevin Gamble, received 4 ½ years in prison for the death last December of 9-year-old Marcus Lee.

    SEYMOUR, Ind. (WANE) A 17-year-old boy who had been reported as a runaway from northern Ohio was found Tuesday nearly 300 miles away riding between the cab and trailer of a semi in southern Indiana according to Indiana State Police.
