    EVERGREEN, Colo. (CBS4) – Evergreen firefighters rescued a deer from an icy lake early Saturday morning.
    They posted video of the rescue on social media.

    Crews say a woman did the right thing and called 911 after seeing the animal struggle.“EFR suited up and help this little guy get back to shore,” the agency said.

    DENVER (CBS4) — Forced smiles and drinking — the two go hand in hand according to a new study. It suggests service industry employees who force themselves to smile and be happy in front of customers could be at a higher risk of heavy drinking.

    Researchers say the link is between those employees who fake happiness, or suppress negative emotions, and heavier drinking.

    ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) – New details were released in the investigation of a chemical device being thrown at an Arvada police officer. Five people were arrested, four of whom are young adults. The fifth suspect is a juvenile.

  • Man Who Pretended To Be Blind Sentenced For Defrauding VA

    DENVER (AP) — A Colorado man has been sentenced to a year in prison for defrauding the Department of Veterans Affairs out of nearly $1.3 million by pretending to be blind. Mike Blea, of Northglenn, was sentenced Wednesday and ordered to pay the VA $1,273,180 in restitution.
    Investigators say Blea is a Vietnam veteran who started getting VA disability payments in 1969 for visual impairment. He did have a minor problem with his eyesight but started to exaggerate how bad it was.
