    DENVER (CBS4) – A fuel spill following a crash during the morning rush hour in Denver led to an extraordinarily long closure of northbound Interstate 25 on Thursday.

    SILVERTHORNE, Colo. (CBS4) – All evacuation orders were lifted Thursday afternoon in Silverthorne as firefighters continue to secure the fire lines on the fire burning on Buffalo Mountain. Some of those allowed to return home will remain under pre-evacuation status.

    By Chris SpearsDENVER (CBS4) – A relatively rare phenomenon was documented by two Colorado weather stations around midnight Thursday.
    Its called a heat burst and it happened in both Akron and Yuma about an hour apart.A heat burst occurs as a high-based thunderstorm, meaning the cloud base is several thousand feet off the ground, weakens and falls apart.

  • Fireball Whiskey Covers Interstate After Crash Between 2 Tractor Trailers

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A crash involving two tractor trailers in Arkansas left the roadway covered in Fireball whiskey and shut down an interstate for several hours Thursday.
    The Arkansas Department of Transportation reports the crash happened at 10:45 a.m. on Interstate 40 west in Pulaski County.

    KERSEY, Colo. (CBS4) – A grass fire that might have been sparked by a lightning strike burned 8,000 acres overnight in Weld County.

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) — The giraffe calf born last week at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has been separated from her mother for specialized medical care, after a health scare on Wednesday.The calf, known for now as #200, was found splayed in her stall Wednesday morning.
    “Splaying means that her legs had gone out from underneath her in an unnatural way,” officials explained. “This can be anywhere from not very serious and treatable to life-threatening.”
