    LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police have shot and killed a man who stabbed a woman and took another hostage at a Van Nuys church rescue mission for the homeless.
    People had gathered for a meal on Saturday afternoon when the 30-year-old man stabbed a woman. A witness told the station that when police arrived, the man grabbed a second woman and held a nearly foot-long serrated blade to her neck.

  • 1 Dead, 20 Injured In New Jersey Arts Festival Shooting

    TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Shooting broke out at an all-night art festival in Trenton, New Jersey, early Sunday, sending people stampeding from the scene and leaving one suspect dead and 20 people injured, authorities said.
    Many of the 20 injured were treated for gunshot wounds, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri said Sunday morning. Four of those, including a 13-year-old boy, were in critical condition.

    GLENDALE (CBSLA)  —  A gas explosion rocked a Glendale neighborhood Saturday evening.
    Officials said the natural gas explosion likely happened inside a laundry room at an apartment complex.
    Glendale Fire said the eight-unit complex is located in the 1200 block of Viola Avenue.
    Debris was strewn everywhere.
    CBS2’s Chris Holmstrom spoke to neighbors and many said they explosion made them think they were experiencing an earthquake.
