  NEWHALL (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters quickly got a handle on a small brush fire that broke out along the northbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in the Newhall area.
  The fire was reported about 11:45 a.m. north of Sierra Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
  The northbound 14 Freeway was closed about 12:25 p.m. for about 10 minutes as a precaution, but only the two slow lanes remained blocked afterward as the firefighting effort continued.

  LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Hundreds of Southland residents lost power Friday after gusting winds toppled trees and threatened to down power lines.

  LOS ANGELES (AP) — Don Calfa, the film, stage and television actor whose credits included “The Return of the Living Dead,” ”Weekend at Bernie’s” and “Barney Miller,” has died.

  LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ford is recalling more than 680,000 midsize sedans mainly in North America because the front seat belts may not hold people in a crash.
  The recall covers certain 2013 to 2016 Ford Fusion, 2013 to 2015 Lincoln MKZ and 2015 and 2016 Ford Mondeo cars.
