Locked in: Homeowners with mortgage rates too good to give up
Something deeply unusual has happened in the American housing market over the past two years, as mortgage rates have risen to around 7%.
Rates that high are not, by themselves, historically remarkable. The trouble is that the average American household with a mortgage is sitting on a fixed rate that’s a whopping 3 points lower.
The gap that has jumped open between these two lines has created a nationwide lock-in effect — paralyzing people in homes they may wish to leave — on a

Is April the best time to list a home for sale?
Josh Dudick | Wealth of Geeks
This year, the ideal conditions for home sales will arrive in the third week of April, according to market researchers at Realtor.
The real estate experts say between April 14 and April 20 is the peak week for the best return on investment (ROI). Realtor did an analysis of house-selling trends across different seasons measured from 2018-2019 and 2021-2023 to create a “Best Time to List” index for every year.
