• McLaughlin & Harvey lands £50m Liverpool training centre

    McLaughlin & Harvey has been chosen by Liverpool Football Club to build its new £50m training centre.
    Construction information specialist Glenigan has named McLaughlin & Harvey as main contractor with work set to start on site in October with completion in spring 2020.
    The Liverpool Football Club Academy has been designed by KSS Design with Mott MacDonald and Mouchel on board as consultants.
  • Roadworks speed limit could be raised to 60mph

    Highways England is considering plans to increase the speed limit through motorway roadworks to 60mph.
    The roads company is going to test if varying speed limits could safely be operated within a set of roadworks without increasing the risks to either drivers or road workers.
    Speed limits could be increased to 60mph on a Sunday if there is less construction activity taking place and then brought back down to 50mph when road workers are working within a few feet of passing traffic.Highways Englan

    Almost nine in 10 (89 per cent) local authorities are failing to monitor if their supply chain is getting paid within 30-days, breaching Whitehall regulations to ensure prompt payment.
    The findings that councils are ignoring their duty to protect the supply chain emerged on the six-month anniversary of Carillion’s  liquidation.

  • Green light for £50m Portsmouth Uni sports centre

    Portsmouth City Council has approved plans for a £50m sports facility for the University of Portsmouth.
    Tendering is underway on the Ravelin Park project with stage two tenders due to be submitted in September.

  • Joiners injured in temporary access platform collapse

    A Manchester-based principal contractor has been sentenced for safety breaches after two workers fell  from a temporary access platform.
    Leeds Crown Court heard how, on 3 October 2014, the two subcontracted joiners were working on the refurbishment and construction of new homes at the former Wharfedale Hospital in Otley, West Yorkshire.

    Developer Qatari Diar has submitted plans for the final phase of its £1bn Chelsea Barracks residential scheme in West London.
    Mace is nearing completion of phases 1-3 of the Chelsea Barracks scheme, as plans have been submitted for the final Phase 6B element of the scheme, which will be a hub for the local community.
