    The Government has started to strip full control of rail maintenance from Network Rail to hand it to railway operators.
    Transport secretary Chris Grayling today said he wanted the publicly-owned Network Rail to share responsibility for running the tracks with private train operators.

    Developer DeTrafford Estates has submitted plans for a residential-led mixed-use scheme of 419 homes in Manchester.The plan for the Ellesmere Street site Castfield will see four new residential brick buildings rising from 8 to 16 storeys around the perimeter of the site with a smaller building within the enclosed square.

    Large companies will be required to publish details on how quickly they pay their suppliers, under draft regulations released by Small Business Minister Margot James.
    The Government has now confirmed the new regulations will come into force from April 2017, a year later than originally planned.

  • Wigan council hunts for schools builders

    Wigan Council is renewing its panel of builders to deliver a backlog of schools repairs and new buildings.

    Leeds Bradford airport is to get its own dedicated train station, as part of a £270m overhaul of the city’s transport system.
