• Quebec election: Legault changes course, steering away from strongholds

GATINEAU — Coalition Avenir Québec Leader François Legault changed course on Sunday, cancelling visits to Trois-Rivières and Quebec City and taking his campaign toward ridings that have never been won by his party.
Legault now plans to head to Chibougamau before visiting Val-d’Or, Amos, Saguenay–Lac-St-Jean, the Côte-Nord and Bas-St-Laurent.
In most, if not all, of the ridings he plans to visit over the next few days, the CAQ came third in 2014.

GATINEAU — A Coalition Avenir Québec government would review the qualifications of deputy ministers as it looks to make the Ministry of Transport more efficient, leader François Legault said Sunday.
“We will look at the positions of every deputy minister and we’ll find a way to verify, in an independent way, their training (and) years of experience,” he said. “It’s certain that people, senior bureaucrats, who don’t have the training or

Québec solidaire would “nationalize the savings accounts of Quebecers,” according to Jean-François Lisée.
Twice this weekend, the Parti Québécois leader implied that his rivals are hiding a radical leftist agenda from the electorate. Namely, Lisée claims that a Québec solidaire government would take control of Quebecers’ tax-free savings accounts in order to reinvest billions in sustainable housing.

  • Quebec election: PQ pledges $30 million for autism services

Endless waiting lists, form after form to fill out and a series of other roadblocks are forcing parents to turn to the private sector for their special-needs children to get services.
And for the kids who finally get help through the public sector, many wind up in a “black hole” after they turn 21 and age out of the system.

Tomas Tatar is a skilled hockey player with great vision and an ability to make passes his linemates might not be expecting or prepared for.
That seemed to be the case at one point during the Canadiens’ 3-2 pre-season win over the Ottawa Senators Saturday night at the Bell Centre when the left-winger made a nice pass into the slot for centre Phillip Danault that was a bit behind him.
“I’m always ready,” Danault said with a smile after the game when reminded of the play.

As advance polling continued on Sunday, Liberal Leader Philippe Couillard kept hammering away at his principal rival on the question of immigration.
But standing a few metres from a decades-long stalled roadwork project, there was no escaping the perception that Liberal governments have taken the western part of the Montreal region for granted.

Down went Ekblad, bleeding from a couple of cuts. Off went Domi.
